Moonlight birds (3/25 in 2012)

Last night, I went to my first ever Wine & Canvas event, and I had a blast.  It wasn't my first ever attempt at painting (I used to be an art student), but I realized last night that I hadn't painted in probably 11 years.  The product of my night is this painting.  I had fun and I'm proud of the painting that resulted.

Yoga mat (2/25 in 2012)

My next project was another that arose from necessity.  I have a yoga mat that I want to start using for a class that my work is offering, but I had no way to carry it.  I did, however, have tons of fabric.  So I made this yoga mat bag.  The pattern is mine, and chock full of errors, but it serves it purpose.  At least the next time I make one, I will know what NOT to do.

TARDIS inspired wallet (1/25 in 2012)

I started off my new crafting mind-set with something I was in dire need of-- a wallet.  I had been looking for a wallet that I like that also suited my age for ages now, but I never found one I liked.  Then, I came across this tutorial (which is crazy easy to follow) by Modest Maven.  I was inspired.  I decided to take one of my favorite shows (Doctor Who) and translate it into a wallet without being obvious.  The result is this:

This is the first time that I undertook something more complicated in construction that just sewing a couple pieces of fabric together.  And, I know it's not perfect, but I am intensely proud of it.  And I LOVE using it!

Other crafting 2/52

My second crafted item for the year is this oven mitt.  I will be the first to say that I did a bad job on it, but it was my first time making anything like that.  I made it for my boyfriend, and he can't even get his hand in it.  I can barely get my hand in it.  I was supposed to make him a set of two, but I'm glad that I only cut out most of the materials for the one.  Next time I'm going to find a pattern and make it from that.

Other crafting 1/52

The first thing that I completed this year is this little pouch.  I made it last month sometime.  I used fabric that I had bought a long time ago and did nothing with.  I made it to hold knitting needles and assorted knitting accessories.  I am quite the sewing novice, so I am really happy with how it turned out.  I am especially happy with the zipper; I'd never sewed a zipper on something before.
